Growing Grass in the South? – Gotta Have the Right Kind

Growing grass in the Greensboro area can be tough, but not impossible. Success starts with choosing the right grass to plant. Our hot weather, long summers, and frequent dry spells can make getting the picture perfect lawn very difficult; even for professionals. Just look at your average golf green in August!

In addition to the heat and lack of water, Holly Springs, Apex, Cary, and Fuquay Varina have varying kinds of soils ranging from really hard clay to very sandy loam. Each type of soil does better with a different kind of grass.

Just because it is hard to do, doesn’t mean it cannot be done though. You can make any kind of grass grow anywhere, if you have the time, patience and, especially, the money to do so. Choosing the correct kind of grass for your specific area and climate will make it much easier. The article below talks about some of the different grasses that do well in southern climates.

Great Scott! What a good article
